Sandy Spring Bank recently announced the appointment of Sonia Johnston as Senior Vice President and Business Development Officer for Commercial Banking. In this role, Ms. Johnston will lead strategies for a full range of deposits, general banking, strategic advisory, wealth management, treasury and financing for locally-based companies and organizations.

Perry, Senior Market Leader for Commercial Banking. “Her acumen as a banker, and her leadership commitment as a board member for numerous community organizations throughout her career will amplify our capabilities and presence in commercial banking. Johnston joins Sandy Spring Bank from John Marshall Bank, where she was a founding executive and Arlington Regional President. She previously served in similar roles at James Monroe Bank and Virginia Commerce Bank.

Johnston is a graduate of Can Tho University Law and Business School and completed her education at The Catholic University of America and George Mason University. She is also an active member of the Arlington, Virginia community and has held several non-profit Board positions and currently serves on the Boards of the Arlington Kiwanis Club and the Arlington Community Foundation.
