(Effective 10/2024)
The following Terms and Conditions apply to the Sandy Spring Bank Gift Card (“Card”). Please read this Agreement carefully and keep it for future reference. In this Agreement, the words “you” or “your” mean the purchaser or recipient of the Card and/or any authorized user who has possession of and has signed the Card; the words “we”, “us”, “bank” and “our” mean Sandy Spring Bank. If you are the recipient of the Card, please sign the back of your Card immediately.
About Your Card
The Card is a non-reloadable, non-personalized prepaid debit card. The Card is not an account, does not earn interest, and is not FDIC insured. The Card is not a credit card.
You authorize us to pay all transactions made using the Card. You agree to use the Card only as provided in this Agreement and in accordance with applicable law. You agree that the amount of funds shown on our records regarding the Card will determine the balance on the Card. Once the Card balance reaches zero, all transactions will be declined.
In any case where you are given value through the use of the Card greater than the remaining balance, you will pay us on demand the amount by which your transactions exceeded the balance.
If you have a problem with a purchase that you make with the Card, or if you have a dispute with a merchant, you must deal directly with the merchant.
Card Expiration
Your Card can be used to make purchases through the month and year embossed on the front of the Card. Any transactions that are attempted after this expiration date will be declined.
Using Your Card
Your Card can be used to make purchases at any merchant that accepts debit cards.
It cannot be used:
- To obtain cash
- For gambling (i.e., Internet, sports, or casino betting) or any unlawful activity
- At a self-serve (pay at the pump) gas station. You may present the Card to an attendant for payment
- At merchants who only accept PIN-based transactions
Card Balance and Activity
You should know your Card balance before you shop. Merchants are not able to determine the balance on your Card. If you do not have a sufficient Card balance to make a purchase, your purchase will be declined. You may ask the Merchant if you are able to pay using the balance on your card together with another form of payment.
You can check the balance on your Card at any time by calling 866.272.8514. You may also visit https://www.onlinecardaccess.com/ssbgift/. Your balance may not include pending transactions that have yet to be posted to your Card.
Online Purchases
In order to use your card to make purchases, please visit https://www.onlinecardaccess.com/ssbgift/ to update your name and address. You may only update the card information once.
Foreign Currency Transactions
Any international purchases will be withdrawn in U.S. dollars. The exchange rate between the Transaction Currency and the Billing Currency is a wholesale market rate or the government-mandated rate in effect one day prior to the Central Processing Date, and increased by one percent.
The US Department of the Treasury administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on US foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries. You understand that your Card will be denied for any Mastercard® purchase in specified foreign countries that are named under these trade sanctions. A complete list of these countries can be found at https://ofac.treasury.gov/.
Lost or Stolen Cards
The Card is like cash in that it may be used immediately and wherever accepted without identification. You agree to use your best efforts to protect the Card against loss, theft, or unauthorized use. You may call 866.272.8514 to report a lost or stolen Card. At our discretion, a replacement Card may be issued, less any applicable fees.
Governing Law and Binding Arbitration
This Agreement, the Card, and all Card transactions will be governed by the card network Rules and Regulations, the laws of the United States and the laws of the state of Maryland, regardless of where you reside. A determination that any part of these Terms and Conditions is invalid or unenforceable will not affect the remainder.
Any dispute related to this Agreement, any transaction contemplated hereby, or any other matter contemplated hereby shall be settled by arbitration in Montgomery County, Maryland, in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules then in effect of the American Arbitration Association. Any award entered by the arbitrator(s) shall be final, binding, and non-appealable and judgment may be entered thereon by any party in accordance with applicable law in any court of competent jurisdiction. This arbitration provision shall be specifically enforceable. All expenses and fees related to conducting the arbitration, including attorney’s fees, shall be paid by the party that does not prevail in the proceeding.

We may disclose information about your Card and transactions: where it is necessary for completing a transaction; to verify the existence of your Card; to comply with governmental agency or court orders; to third parties and affiliated entities that assist in providing Card services; to any person whom you transfer the Card; when we reasonably believe you have given us your permission.
