Client Success Story – Q&A with Bee J's

Bee J's owners

Bee J's Cookies was founded in 2020 by two self-described Millennials who believe in the convening power of food. They were also good enough to partner with us during our recent Juneteenth celebrations and so we wanted to learn more about their business and their relationship with Sandy Spring Bank.

What made you choose Sandy Spring Bank?

We are committed to the local community and it’s important that we partner with local businesses as much as possible. Since Sandy Spring Bank is locally headquartered and has a dedication to the community as well, it was an easy decision.

What are some benefits of working with the Bank?

Personalized service, we aren’t just another customer. Our representatives know our names and our business. They’ve even eaten our cookies and purchased our products. They are invested in us and it shows. The community connections have also been great. We’ve been able to leverage and connect with other businesses through Sandy Spring Bank.

Did You Know?

  • Cookie flavors include Funfetti, S'Mores and Florida Sugar, although the Old Fashioned Chocolate Chip remains the most popular.
  • You can buy your own cookies to enjoy from their stall in Union Market, a popular marketplace and neighborhood with roots that go back two centuries.
  • Co-Founders Andrea and Bryant met in 2019 at a March Madness event. A few weeks later she tasted his cookies and the rest is history.

How has working with Sandy Spring Bank impacted your business?

Particularly from a resource sharing standpoint, Sandy Spring Bank has helped us better understand our options when it comes to raising funds/capital for our business. This type of knowledge sharing isn’t typical and it has helped us navigate the business landscape, particularly important as new small business owners.

Why would you recommend working with Sandy Spring Bank to friends or associates?

Bigger isn’t always better. By banking with a local, community-focused bank, we’ve been able to foster relationships with bank representatives who care about our success. That’s vital when you’re a small business owner.

Describe Sandy Spring Bank in one word.
